National Library of Ireland

I visited the NLI in February and returned with digital photos of every page of the Donnelly scrap books . It is a treasure trove of pencil , pen and ink sketches of junks. Little water colours , some plans and many photographs of junks. There are notes on construction , colours , copies of other junk material and even some poems ! I will add a link to a web album in due course .

PS If any one is interested it will be easier for them to give me an e mail address and I can invite them to view the album.

Dear Mr Donnelly,

I am a Chinese Navy Researcher living in Hong Kong, recently I am doing some research about the Taku Tug and Lighter Co Ltd in the 1900s,
it seems that your Great grandfather Mr Ivon A Donnelly had been working for the company for some years.... I am just wondering if he had anything left about the company?? especially a Tug Boat called "Pei Ho"?? or "Chin Lung"??

I am sorry to bother you so sudden, as I just discovered the relationship between Old Mr Donnelly and the company.

My Email: plaxton23@yahoo.com.hk

and once again, terribly sorry for my inquiry.

Best Regards,

SAM, CHOW Ching Wai

Dear Mr. Ivon A. Donnelly,

I work as the photo editor for a series of history books published in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland. We found an image which we would like to use it in an article in one of the books.

The book is about China, and the article is about Chinese ships.
Link to the image:
http://collections.rmg.co.uk/collections/objects/6892.html

It is the image of a model of a junk.

Can you tell us if we can use the image, do you hold the copyright to it?

Many kind regards,
Jasmina

It's likely your grandfather spent considerable time in my hometown Ichang when he worked as ship agent in China. I'd like to connect with you if possible.
